Motherhood & the body

With a strong interest in commercial photography and how the media shapes our sense of self, I created this project as an homage to the physical realities of childbirth and childrearing. I wanted the images to break away from traditional maternity culture which put pressure on mums to fit into certain stereotypes, instead presenting something more honest and unconventional. The fruit serves as a symbolic representation of each model’s personal experience of motherhood.

Maximalism vs Minimalism

Media and advertising tell us we need more – more to be happy, more to stop wanting, more to fit in. This series of portraits explores that idea through one subject: First embracing the indulgence of high-fashion and commercial advertising, then stripping the studio back to reveal the beauty of simplicity.

Thanks to Paper Bag Princess for supplying the outfits for the maximalist shoot.

Who’s the man

A work in progress, this project reflects on the media and messaging around masculinity and what that means for young men today. The final images selected for this work will be exhibited in late 2025 in Pōneke. Details to come.

Surface Tension

A work-in-progress photobook created in dedication of Pōneke’s female surf community. A small run version of this book was printed in July 2025 with plans to run a larger scale print soon.

Monochroma

Traditional male portraiture and studio lighting is often defined by very specific lighting, camera angles and poses. I wanted to explore these same lighting techniques and poses in a hyper-feminine setting, creating a series of feminine but unapologetically powerful portraits.

Morocco ‘24

A love letter to Morocco, especially the city of Essaouira. In 2024 I spent ten days exploring the west of Morocco and creating a limited series of prints. If you are interested in purchasing one of these prints, get in touch.

Marée

A lifelong fascination with ocean and light inspired this series, using the water as a giant natural reflector. I wanted to merge this study of light and reflections with moments of introspection – capturing the act of reflecting on oneself while immersed in the ocean’s meditative presence. The work is also informed by fashion and editorial photography.
